In pakistan there are many skilled artists who made beautiful hand made carpets which are demanded by people all over the world.

Rilli

In the history Asia is well known for the production of wonderful textiles. The most well known is the art of producing the cotton fabric and the dying and printing on the fabric. Women in the Pakistan are famous because of the art of producing Rilli (Quilts) from the different pieces of clothes. There are different types of quilts that are made by the women. The quilts are known as "Ralli" (or rilli, rilly, rallee or rehli) derived from the local word ralanna which means to mix or connect. Rilli is used for covering the wooden bed, to cover the floor, stuffing for animals and workers and it is also given to the girls in dowry.

Rilli is made from the pieces of clothes of different colors. The colors that are mostly used in making rilli are: Black, yellow, blue, purple, orange and white. The different pieces are stitched by the thread in different ways because there are many designs and for every design stitching will be in different pattern.

There are many types of Rilli but three are most famous and they are:

1) Patchwork made from pieces of cloth torn into squares and triangles and then stitched together,

2) Applique made from intricate cut out patterns in a variety of shapes and

3) Embroidered quilts where the embroidery stitches form patterns on solid colored fabric.

Rilli (Quilt)

It is a traditional Pakitani handmade product, named Rilli. It is used as bedspread, blanket and carpet as well. Its size is not fixed it is customized and it’s not like an ordinary bedspread because of its thickness and material. It is made by specialized Sindhi men and women designers. Its design is very impressive, demanding to heart and attention gaining. Combination of colors is also very eye soothing because of light colors, White and blue. Large squares are printed on it and in those squares circles are designed. It’s not only a product but a symbol of culture and a decoration of homes. 

Pillow cover

It is a completely hand-made pillow cover. Sindhi women are specialized in sewing pillow covers and it takes them so many hours to complete one pillow cover because, minute things are taken into consideration.

 Like border of this pillow cover, it is sewed separately, fibers and wool is used. Colors and design are the integral part of cover, combination of red, orange, black and white color gives it an eye-catching look. Four sided quadrants are used in its design. In the middle black rectangle is designed and in this rectangle white squares are made. 

Ajrak (Shawl)

Sindh is the province of Pakistan, its culture is Sindhi and Ajrak is the very strong symbol/element of Sindhi culture, mostly men use it as a shawl and women use as a chaddar(bed sheet), shirts and dresses. Ajrak is unique kind of shawl because of its beautiful and attractive design. Generally its design includes blocks and tiles. That are printed on it in a very new and innovative way, and it gives Ajrak an enchanting look. it comes in many colors such as red, blue, green and black but Ajrak is not bound to these colors only. 

Jutti or Khussa

The type of footwear in Pakistan is known as Jutti, made up of leather and also embroidered with mostly gold and silver threads and some time mirrors are also embedded on them. Now a days jutti is also available with rubber sole. There are many thyes of jutti like Lahori, Peshawari, and Kasoori juttis. Juttis normally are in flat shape and designs are same for men and women, except that men’s jutti have sharp long tip (nokh). Juttis are also known as Khussa or Mojri. Hand-made juttis are embroidered very beautifully.

These juttis were also worn by rich people as Zamidars, Jagirdars, Maharajas, Chaudhary and others in all over the Pakistan. People in Pakistan like to wear them on different traditional occasions like wedding and Eid. When these are wear eith traditional dresses as sherwani and kurta-pajama, it gives the more beautiful and traditional look to the people.

Traditional dresses of Pakistan

Clothes of Pakistan are known as ethnic clothes that are worn by individuals in the Pakistan which give decent look to them. Clothes of Pakistan communicate the culture of Pakistan . In Pakistan there is sindhi culture, Punjabi culture, Balochi culture, Pashtun culture and Kashmiri culture.

Shalwar Kameez is the national dress of Pakistan worn by all men and women in all four provinces of Pakistan. Most of the women in Pakistan wear Shalwar kameez that are of different designs and styles of embroidery like Patiala Shalwar, Churidar Pajama and simple trouser. Dupatta is major part of the dresses in Pakistan and considered as a symbol of woman’s respect. There are many other traditional dresses other than shalwar kameez but these are worn by women in Pakistan on different occasions like Sari, lehenga and Gharara.
