Jutti or Khussa

The type of footwear in Pakistan is known as Jutti, made up of leather and also embroidered with mostly gold and silver threads and some time mirrors are also embedded on them. Now a days jutti is also available with rubber sole. There are many thyes of jutti like Lahori, Peshawari, and Kasoori juttis. Juttis normally are in flat shape and designs are same for men and women, except that men’s jutti have sharp long tip (nokh). Juttis are also known as Khussa or Mojri. Hand-made juttis are embroidered very beautifully.

These juttis were also worn by rich people as Zamidars, Jagirdars, Maharajas, Chaudhary and others in all over the Pakistan. People in Pakistan like to wear them on different traditional occasions like wedding and Eid. When these are wear eith traditional dresses as sherwani and kurta-pajama, it gives the more beautiful and traditional look to the people.

Traditional dresses of Pakistan

Clothes of Pakistan are known as ethnic clothes that are worn by individuals in the Pakistan which give decent look to them. Clothes of Pakistan communicate the culture of Pakistan . In Pakistan there is sindhi culture, Punjabi culture, Balochi culture, Pashtun culture and Kashmiri culture.

Shalwar Kameez is the national dress of Pakistan worn by all men and women in all four provinces of Pakistan. Most of the women in Pakistan wear Shalwar kameez that are of different designs and styles of embroidery like Patiala Shalwar, Churidar Pajama and simple trouser. Dupatta is major part of the dresses in Pakistan and considered as a symbol of woman’s respect. There are many other traditional dresses other than shalwar kameez but these are worn by women in Pakistan on different occasions like Sari, lehenga and Gharara.

Ajrak

Ajrak is an essential part of the clothes of a Sindhi culture. It is used by the men as a turban and as a shawl and chaddar by the women.

Ajrak is taken from the times of the ancient civilizations of ihe Indus Valley. This exist from 2500 BC to1500 BC.

A unique printing method:

Ajrak is printed from the both sides and the printing of Ajrak is known as resist printing. This printing is done by people with hand with imprinted wooden blocks. These blocks are printed repeatedly to make a design. Ruler and compass are used by Ajrak maker to make a good and perfect design. Block making is a family craft and passed down from generation to generation.

The major process of making Ajrak is called Teli Ajrak and other process are Sabuni Ajrak, Do Rangi Ajrak and Kori Ajrak.

Sindhi Dresses

The Province of Pakistan, Sindh is well known for the fabulous hand embroidery of best quality mirror embedded with thread. On the occasions most of the women want to wear heavy worked clothes that give beautiful look to them. These sindhi dresses are not only liked by sindhi women but in all over the world these are liked by women because it give gorgeous look to the women. Due to this exports of pakistan increases, many people who live in abroad import the traditional sindhi dresses from Pakistan.

Culture of Sindh

The culture of Sindh has its origin in the Indus Valley Civilization. In the layout of Sindh there are large desert region, natural resources that attract the people and specially the foreigners. In Sindh there is a river known as Sindhu or Indus River, it passes through the land and the Arabian Sea and it also shore up the oceangoing traditions among the local people. Sindhi culture is different from the neighboring region’s culture. Culture of sindh is influenced by Sufi canon and policies. Popular Sindhi Culture symbols are Raja Dahir, Shah Abdul Litif Bhitai, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Jhulelal andSachal Sarmast. There are many famous things in Sindh that are liked by the people all around the world Like: Sindhi topi (Cap) and Ajarak, Rilli (quilt), Sindhi embroidery dresses, hand-made things and many others. Most of the home-made things are made by the women in villages by their art.

SINDHI TOPI AND AJRAK DAY

The Sindhi Topi Ajrak day in Pakistan is celebrated on 4-6 December. It started celebration since 2009. It is the one of most important occasion for the people of Pakistan. It is just like the eid day, people forget all the difference and quarrels. In the roads rallies come out in harmony and everywhere cultural music is tune on. All people wear white Shalwar Kameez with sindhi Cap and Ajrak. They take out all vehicles on the roads holding flags of their concerned political parties and shouting the slogans. On that day all sindhi people become united and forget the difference of casts.

In schools, colleges, universities and every academic institute celebrate this day with full enthusiasm and swings. The students play various drama acts about history of Sindh, sing various sindhi songs and do dance on them.

Not only people celebrate but all TV and Radio channels enjoy and decorate their stages with Sindhi signs. They tune sindhi and cultural music and dramas and all the talk shows speak sindhi culture and history even in news Topi Ajrak day is on head lines….

All the age of people children, teen age, young and old people all enjoy this day equally. Even women and girls have fun on this day, their duppattas are replaced by ajrak.

This day is celebrated just like independent day. Stalls are set down and they sell Sindh topi, Ajrak and traditional items which represent Sindh.

In whole world where ever sindhi people are present they celebrate there. And start feeling the presence of beloved Sindh. And this day make them close and realize that they are the part of Sindh.

Sindhi, Balochi, pakhtum, Panjabi enjoy this day equally. This day give the lesson of unity and love.
